The new kdeartwork3 does not depend on kde-icons-crystal any more. Therefore it is safe to remove the latter.
There seems to be a chain of dependencies there: kdeartwork3 depends on kde-icons-crystal, and kde-bundle-ssl in turn depends on kdeartwork3.
Trying to remove kde-icons produced many messages like the following, which looks like a separate fault:
dpkg - warning: while removing kde-icons-crystal, directory `/sw/share/icons/Crystal/64x64/mimetypes' not empty so not removed.
This is only a warning. Nothing to worry about.
The problem is that the bugs will not be fixed without user feedback. For Benjamin Reed and the other kde package porters, things must have worked, otherwise they wouldn't have put them up on cvs. But their environment is different, having played with intermediate versions. And they won't have tried every possible combination of packages. So it is important (although time-consuming and sometimes annoying) to try and provide feedback. There will probably be other cases like this further on.That wouldn't surprise me at all. Perhaps it's best to leave it for now.
