Well, that's the good news in all this - JJB mentioned that FB1.4 has
hooks for just such an extension. So something tells me that it'll
only be a week or two before someone's thrown together a plugin to
restore the functionality.

(Maybe this is all a ploy to prod more people into learning the
extension API so more plugins will be developed? :-D )
