dear listers,

i have a sad story to tell. i found out today a local women died
yesterday while riding her 15 year old "dead broke" quarterhorse. i
live in a very small town and she was riding alone along a side road, no
traffic, very rural, no weather, sunny wonderful fall day. this woman
rides every day, lives on this road, and has ridden since she was a
small child. a highway patrolman had just waved to her, she waved back.
he passed her slowly going the opposite direction. the next thing he
knew, he looked in his rearview mirror and the horse was rearing, she
was falling off and by the time he turned his car around and got out she
was dead on the pavemant! she had apparently smacked her head, and was
killed instantly!!! there was nothing out there to spook the horse, no
rattlesnakes, no other horses, coes, pigs, sheep or goats, or kids.
nothing. i don't mean this to be a downer, but PLEASE WEAR YOUR
HELMETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! goodnight, denise
