Yesterday I brought T.U. F. Voss and Peppertree's Arne to the Fox Valley Saddle Horse Association's Mini Event in Elgin IL. Super nice facility, lots of horses, and turned out to be a nice day.We have been having COLD and rain again, ughg, but it was sunny and pleasant! Voss has never done any type of eventing, he has done hunter/jumper shows and dressage so we entered in the pre-novice, was low at 2ft, very beginner friendly course. We were 1st after dressage, went clear in stadium but had one refusal at the roll top, which we have a roll top, very depressing. Should not have assumed he would go over. VERY hard to recover from one penalty fault on Cross Country, they give you 20 penalty points. OUCH. So...that put us in 5th overall. BUT...still very happy, he was a super boy, very well behaved, we'll get them next time. ! Arne has been off for some time before coming to FCF so we just wanted to bring him back slow and easy. So, we entered him as well in the low division. He unforunately blew a lead in the dressage test, starting him out in 9th, he had one refusal on the cross country course, which surprised me, he typically never looks at a jump. The BIG round hay bales NEXT to the jump that they used as wing standards is what got him. Those big monsters! We figured he would like that jump, it's FOOD! He went clear on stadium and ended up in 8th. There were 12 in our division. We got complimented on how great the boys were by a lot of people. They really were wonderful boys, no screaming out when one left, they hung out at the trailer like the pros that they are. Soooo nice to show a well mannered horse.

Didn't get any pics, Eby and I were back to back with our classes, needed a 3rd person to be our camera man!

GREAT to be back out showing. Last year with my knee surgery I didn't get to jump, MISSED that big time. So....we're off to a great start! Voss will be going to the Columbus Carriage Classic June19-21. I got him driving this Feb. Another first for him!! Poor boy didn't know later in life he would be taking up new disciplines! Voss is 16.

Arne is forsale, super Hunter/Jumper prospect or Event horse. He has done 3 day events in CA, he really is a NICE jumper. Typically does not look , just jumps. Believe he would pack around a youth on a course easy. He's pretty independent out there.
