That is up to Gerald. But the last time I looked, I have not seen Yaesu or Icom or Ten-Tec or any of those companies release small upgrades for long if ever. In the end, you find that you have simply run out of ways to improve the existing platform and you have to move on. I HOPE he makes an SDR-2000 that has many improvements in it and that the ARRL review says nothing like "Bob says this and that is an understatement!" So far as I know Gerald is producing the SDR-1000 with modified RFE for the foreseeable future. He has ideas. I have ideas. You have ideas. Ideas are not radios.

Does this mean that the SDR-1000 we now know will stop being and another SD-XXXX will be comming ? Or do you mean that we will be upgrading the hardware to make a better system?

As I have said before, the other developers and I owe the user/owners
of the SDR-1000 a great debt of gratitude for being our guinea pigs and
laboratory. The past many months have produced a remarkable machine and
increasingly good software. The software is about to take a departure
as we bring really modern (FREE) software development tools to bear on
the next generation of code. We have to hope that Gerald produces a new
version of the SDR with all we have learned and as such, we have to
design with more modularity and ease of facilitating MANY to contribute
so this can continue well into the future.

Bob,

Thank you for the comprehensive details on where some of the issues on
the SDR-1000 stand. Also, thank you and all of the other software
developers for all of the many hours that you have spent making this
radio as exciting as it is. I know that it may seem that we users are
insatiable in our requests for changes, but knowing the huge software
effort that you have put forth, we do appreciate you.
