Hi, I haven't used an ordinary radio since field day. I have an Omni-VI, a couple of K2s, an IC 706 and three lesser transceivers but use the SDR-1000 except for portable/mobile. I think I will unload most of them this winter and just keep a portable rig and the SDR-1000. I did have a K2 sitting beside the SDR-1000 and operated SO2R, but it was just a novelty to show I could do it.
The on-air performance leaves little to be desired for the average operator. I was looking at the IC-7800, Orion II and Yaesu-2000 today, and I thought what a lot of hardware to get what the SDR-1000 is starting to approach.
