One thing I can't find.. Is possible to generate a PL or sub-audible tone to
access a ten or six meter FM repeater?

Not yet from within PowerSDR. You can do it with a third party application and
VAC. When the FLX-VU5K module is released later this spring, one of the
software features will be the addition of CTCSS tones to PowerSDR. It may not
be in the initial release of PowerSDR that supports the FLEX-VU5K, but since I
want to work some LEOs that require tones to open them up, you can bet I'll be
doing my best to influence the development schedule (BTW, I have little
influence in that area. Greg keeps sending me to the PowerSDR product manager,
Helen Waite. HI HI)

Thanks, Tim. You've been a great help. I think I've got everything
straightened out now.

Yes, I have a lot to learn about SDR and I'm eager to. I'll be sure to have
many more questions to post on this forum.

I've been using a Yaesu FT-847 for the past eight years since I got my license.
The Flex makes the 847 seem like a regenerative receiver or something. I was
listening to the big contest this weekend and holy cow can the Flex separate
the close together signals!

One thing I can't find.. Is possible to generate a PL or sub-audible tone to
access a ten or six meter FM repeater?

Oh no. Do not set the AGC to fixed in digi modes. PowerSDR has the most
advanced dual attack AGC algorithm of any radio. The algorithm was developed
based on Phil's paper on the subject
http://support.flex-radio.com/Downloads.aspx?id=98 Refer to the second
paragraph in section 1.1 regarding fixed AGC and distortion with direct
conversion receivers, of which the FLEX-x000 is one.

What ever you learned regarding setup on a traditional, legacy type radio is
not necessarily how it works with a SDR. Case in point. The s-meter always
reads the actual signal power integrated in the RX passband no matter what the
AGC-T settings are set for. My Icom's s-meter changes with changes in RF gain.

The AF control does not have anything to do with gain levels when running in
DIGx modes using the VAC channels.
