One of the things I have noticed with the 1500 --- when I see birdies on on the panadapter on a given band, if I increase the preamp gain a step they go down into the noise. I gave on the acer aspire one netbook and got a Toshiba "crossover" (sized betweeen a netbook and notebook) with a lot more processor speed. I'm not sure I would have noticed the noise problem I describe without the panadapter display.
