Rick I'm glad you got up and running, however, can I provide some advice (and, I'm sure Neal will back me up on this).
Sadly, there is no way to be 100% sure that you have totally solved your virus issue. The AV products only find those that are playing to the Windows OS rules. I am very certain that you will continue to have problems that will return. The fact it took 3 paces to get the drivers back on tell me it is not totally fixed. May I make a few recommendations: - First, go to AVG and get their rescue CD http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-rescue-cd. You will boot this CD and have it scan the system. Make sure your computer is connected by Lan cable to the internet (not wifi) so that it can do its update of the signatures. This tool scans the drive by taking it totally offline (this is a must do). Be happy if it finds something. - Run Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool (Start/Run/MRT). Make sure it is up to date and do a deep scan. That gets you through the next few days while you plan the following. - Do a full backup of your data. An easy way to do this is to use Microsoft's File and Transfer Wizard. Just follow the instructions, and it nicely saves lots of your settings, etc. Park all the data on a USB drive. - Next, plan to reinstall windows from scratch. This is the only way to be 100% sure that your box is now clean. There is no other way despite what those that sell AV products will tell you. - After reinstalling Windows (if it was an old hard drive (>2 years), this might be a good time to replace it), install all your Applications (Flex, Office, AV, etc.) (I'm liking Windows Security Essentials for AV and it is free). Also, stop using IE for your browser and switch to either Firefox or Google Chrome. Chrome is great is it automatically updates itself ensure it is the most current for any security exploits. IE is one of the number one target applications for virus writers (followed by Adobe Acrobat). Did you know an unpatched IE can allow a JPEG picture to install a virus? - Now, run File and Transfer Wizard to return everything back to the new drive. - Make sure you allow windows to do automatic updates for security issues. I know all of the above sounds like a pain, but in the long run, your box will run so much better. I've had many people come to me with problems like yours, and this was the ONLY way that was 100% reliable.
