Alex,

After installing v2.4.4 on my Win 7/32 system (Flex 5000), I started
experiencing "freezes" every one to two hours, even under "Safe Mode Level 2".
I had not experienced this problem with 2.3.5 running the "legacy" driver. The
Firewire applet showed that I was getting at least one DPC of over 50,000
microseconds when the freezes occurred.

I tried disabling various applications that were running with PowerSDR to no
avail. I finally went back to review recent posts on this list and noted that
Neal Campbell, our local computer guru, suggested that we try using the driver
included with Windows 7 instead of the "legacy" driver. I did that yesterday
afternoon and let the system run overnight with no freezes, so it appears that
the problem may have been solved, at least for my Firewire card. I also
returned to "Normal Mode" before I ran the test overnight which should improve
latency performance.

I played a YouTube video while PowerSDR 2.4.4 was running this morning to
replicate your issue and everything ran fine for me.

Best of luck in solving your problem!

Ed, K0KC

Subject: [FlexRadio] Re: Flex 3000 Freezes with v2.4.4

Hi Ted,

it happened to me also and I had to do a complete rollback to 235.
My setup: Flex-3000, Win7 64bit, SONY VAIO notebook with firewire port.

I have no issues at all with PSDR 235, although it runs on the Flex driver with
"safe mode 3". There is a latency issue, as I have to have AnitVir firewall and
some other programs running in the background. My crash test is to have PSDR
running and to look at a video clip on YouTube at the same time. 235 runs, 244
freezes.

I had a direct contact with my FlexRadio representative here in Germany and he
told me the same everybody does: set "safe mode 2", take the old legacy
driver... nothing works... rollback then...

I think that the FlexRadio programmers should rework their firewire driver to
run on our systems also or we will miss all the updates in the future.

BTW it you need the rollback info, just mail me at dh...@darc.de
