I do not agree. Independent if there is a release in the near future, I
would like to have the patch in cvs up to the moment, where the bug got
fixed in OpenAL and a new version of OpenAL is released. Even if this is
in five minutes or ten years.

Of course. I've looked in the OpenAL bugtracker, which is totally empty.
I think noone uses it (there is a hint on the OpenAL page about that). I
have written an EMail to the OpenAL devel list.

Please commit the patch flightgear.diff, which fixes some bugs in the
flightgear sound concept. (the OpenAL workaround is in simgear.diff and
is independent from this patch).
By the way: The Doppler effect can easily be switched on in the plib
branch, too. Only the directional sound needs some more work.
