It is very strange. I built the database and there is nothing in the options/comments. It looks just like the "good" field.
When I change the date in the "bad" field, it changes all of the areas.

Also, I have this other portal setup for a different tab and once I have the sort records and I have the portal, the records are behind the portal and I can not use them in the portal.

Obviously, I having some trouble with my portals.

Thanks for you help!

A global field is a set with that setting in its options. The global field will have one entry -- the same entry -- for all records.

Is this a database system that you build or someone else? If you built it, it's not likely that you would have created a global field without knowing.

But to check, locate the field in Define Fields, then check the Options/Comments column for the field. If it is a global, you will see the word "Global".

Another thing to try. Can you make/change an entry in the 'bad' field? If so, does it change all of the 'bad' field's display in the portal?

Stephanie,

Tell me which version of FMP you are using.

Michele,

I compared the "good" date with the "bad" and they appear to be the same set up. How would I know if it was global?
Thanks for the help,
Stephanie

Stephanie,

Check that the date that is displaying the same date is actually from the relationship for the portal. If your relationships have similar names, it is easy to grab a wrong field.

Another option: the problem date field is not a global by any chance? That would produce the same results in all rows of the portal.

HTH,

Michele

It is in the portal setup, and there is another date in the portal setup, but that one works normally. I tried to change it around, but it did make a difference.
thanks for your ideas!

Is the field a related field (the same as the portal relationship) or is it a field from the parent. If it is a field from the parent and just *showing*
in the portal, changing it in one row, will change it in every row.
