I am not too sure about this. AFAIK the ideal route was to have a
replaceable plug-in file with all language-depended strings, a
separate one for each language. But i realize it is too hard to
implement at this stage. So next ideal soulution would be using of
gettext (or pygettext) utilities.

Do you expect dramatic changes with i18n and l10n capabilities in this
release? Anyway having extended characters in IDs/URLs will be a
"headache in ass" and give unpredictable errors.
