I'm running Freevo at 1440x900 reesolution (set in freevo.conf). So
yes, if I were to switch my screen resolution to 800x600 I would
probably get the appropriate display results. However, I've never
liked the way things look on a 1440x900 screen with a display of
800x600. Too many jagged edges.

"Editing the images to make them square" means changing them from
192x256 pixels to 256x256 pixels. This is part of the reason why I
turned "anamorphic" off in my version of the skin. If my skin is
"built" for 16:9 screens, then no compensation is necessary in the
artwork.

May have been the monitor I tested it on.

Again, that's why I'm reworking the Panorana skin: artwork has to be
compensated in order to run Freevo at resolutions above 800x600. To
me, making a skin anamorphic is kind of a waste. Why stretch
everything _back_ into shape when you could just write the skin to
handle everything properly and not have to compensate the artwork??
Why do double work?? If you're writing the skin, why not make it for
the resolution you use so you don't have to resize/reshape your
artwork??

This is because of MY configuration. While it appears everyone else is
content running at 800x600, I'm running at my full resolution of
1440x900. Freevo has never been able to handle anything above 800x600
and work correctly. I'm still trying to find a way to make 1440x900 a
viable option and then apply a skin suited for 1440x900, by default.
As soon as I can get this as a permanent fix, I'll post the patches
here.

And I hope you enjoy the skin when I post it up!!! However, keep in
mind that you MUST edit your freevo.conf to reflect a 1440x900
resolution.

There's a reason why I branched from the project to write my own
plugins and adapt Freevo for a more specific hardware set: the defaults
as they are don't fit well enough for me. I'm trying to contribute
back since the real grunt-work programming is done by folks more
talented than myself. If anyone wants to see my configs, plugins or
other edits, please, contact me.
