Thanks. You're correct. I meant to say "multicast" or "unicast". However, you can have this:

It really depends on whether you use ClusterXL in broadcast or unicast mode. When you have ClusterXL in broadcast mode, you can have equally sharing load. When you use it in unicast mode, one node has to be a "pivot" mode so you will get about 30% traffics on the pivot node and 70% traffics on the other node. In unicast node, the pivot will determine which gateway will handle the connection. While in clusterXL broadcast mode, you achieve equal load-sharing, there are disadvantages to this mode but I can't recall what they are at the moment. That's my understanding of ClusterXL. We're also using it in our environemt, Active/Active with Flood-gate. Chris van der Merwe wrote: Hi Guys, I am testing FW1 in a load-sharing / high availability configuration using ClusterXL and also Floodgate for our company. Let me tell you, at the moment ClusterXL is very cool, very very robust ;) Anyways, here is my question: My technical director has asked for an explanation describing how FW1's load-sharing determine's which gateway will handle a connection? Is it a simple round-robin, does it factor in the CPU load, network load of each cluster member etc. Thanks Guys!
