If nothing else, this thread has made me feel
good knowing I'm not the only one who's had
problems with Checkpoint and/or the resellers.
Someone mentioned that the website is a good source.
I can't agree, especially since just today I phoned
tech support asking why the FW-1 4.1 SP1 patch
was not available on their website. I was told
to contact my reseller about getting it from one
of the later 4.1/CP2000 CDs as it's not on my early 4.1 CD.
When I asked why the 4.1 SP1 is not available
to download, I was told that there is a problem "downloading"
the patch, and installs from the CD work better.
I guess the bits come off the CD media better
than being tainted by routers. Maybe we should all throw
out our networks and pass our communications
to each other on CD-Rs...
So, as I understand it, to get a PATCH to fix
*their* program, I need to contact my reseller (always a joy),
wait for a phone message/email to be returned, and
then try to explain to them why I need to get
a copy of the 4.1 CD (which their records will show
I've already received), and wait for it to get to me
through the mail. We could be looking at a week, if
that's not being too optimistic.
Hmmm...at least when I get it, the bits
will be better since they're from a CD...
Cheers!
