I must admit I had not considered the kind of fault that you've described.
But doubt it, since I can boot successively from one partition to the other
now that I've loaded the clean new OS 9.04  system folder on one partition,
and then back to the OS 9.2.2, and find that the burner works under the
lower OS but not on the higher, regardless of time or temp.

I was more concerned that I'd damaged the card or burner, since they'd been
stored in their cases for about 3 months after I'd take them travelling over
the holiday, and not used them since.

But during that three month period the only other variable was that I'd
upgraded the System to the newest iteration of said classic operating
system.
