Well, first, laptop (2.5 inch) hard drives don't come in the 7200rpm 
flavour yet.  The highest rotational speed you'll get is 5400rpm, which 
is pretty good anyway.

Second, an external hard drive is just an internal hard drive in a case 
with an adapter (IDE to firewire)...so they're always going to be more 
expensive...maybe your memory is reversed?  :o)

Is the drive you saw (the 60GB drive for $367 at clubmac) an IBM 
travelstar 60GH?  If not what model is it?  I've heard the newest line 
(the 60GH) is pretty quiet and fast.  Also, I've never seen a laptop 
hard drive at above 60GB.  Even these just came out recently...before 
that the max was 48GB. (although I may be wrong, but I've been in the 
market for a new drive for a while.)
