Anyone that makes their decision just because the iBook 500 is "newer" over the Pismo isn't a very informed consumer. I used the iBook 500 for a week and it made me want to get back to my Pismo, as it was considerably slower than my Pismo 400, due to the bus speed of the iBook.
There are reasons to purchase the iBook instead of the Pismo such as size, but just because it is "newer", doesn't make it better.
