For you? Probably none--at least just yet. Do you crash a lot? If so, then
definitely consider it. Most of the apps you have mentioned have upgrades, a
couple of them even free--and you may have the X version of Quicken on your
CD.

What I personally think you need to consider first and foremost is if you
think you will be upgrading your hardware in another year or two. If so,
then I would wait and upgrade to X then. If you are planning on holding out
three or four years yet, then you might want to consider the X upgrade much
sooner--in this case, the sooner the better--to get the most use out of the
money you are going to spend on upgrading (I'm assuming you will get extra
RAM and possibly a bigger hard drive, as well as pay for at least one or two
upgrades to your software.)

Do you have any peripherals such as scanners or digital cameras? If so, then
you will want to look for X drivers for those before you upgrade. You may
not be able to use them under X, and they may not work under Classic either.

As for comparing it to Windows, specifically XP, well, I actually considered
it--for about 30 seconds. I have a close friend who runs XP, and while he
finds it the best he's used to date, it is still plagued with problems that
will take him down for a day or two while he "rewinds" his system, or even,
on occasion, reinstalls. There is still a big difference between the two
worlds, even between X and XP. When you add to that the fact that you have
to buy whole new hardware and software, it's just not worth it. Make the
switch to X before youdo that! (and this from someone who has yet to move to
X for the reasons of expense--among others--but strangely, writing to you
has just about changed my mind--I think I just might upgrade with the new
year.) :-)
