That's strange alright. However, I'd be inclined to suspect a bum Airport install unless her card is some odd variant, though that seems unlikely to me. Running TupleDumper on each, I see practically no difference between my cards Lucent and ORiNOCO. This is what the system, apps and drivers and such see when looking at a PCcard. Maybe that's the MAC address?
