Not sure I understand the question....I had a combo drive in an external FW case. I was able to watch a Star Wars DVD playing in the external drive on my G4 powerbook. I could not watch anything on my 333mhz (no built-in decoder) Lombard with the same setup. I only tested it on the G4 with a video DVD to make sure it worked.
