This doesn't rule out the possibility that your machine is slow because of too little RAM, too little RAM allocated to the browser (OS 9 only) or that your web cache needs to be cleared out or some other reason. Are you running OS 9 or OS X? What browser? Mac OS 9 browsers are slower than PC browsers in general. Safari on OS X is a very fast browser.
