The problem is that Apple didn't write full video drivers for Wallstreet and
Lombard in OS X. For Wallstreet, the problem is to use the decoder card,
which is a PMCIA card. That card was never recognized under OS X because
nobody ever wrote drivers for it, including Apple. For Lombard, I would
imagine the hardware decoder is on/with the video card. Again, Apple didn't
bother writing a video driver that would provide access to that decoder and
they didn't put the code in the DVD Player that would use that functionality
since all newer machines use software decoding.
