No, Vicki, it's not being rude at all; I've been following it with interest and have found it informative. Notice, in fact, that the subject line has been changed from your original posting so as to reflect the newly morphed thread...what is "roughly meant" sometimes gets confused to the point of causing some big problems, and it is good once in a while to stop and agree to "synchronize" terminology. Without it, language becomes an impediment to communications!

To be rude would require a "culpable mental state;" that is, one would have to /intend/ to be rude, and I really don't believe that is the case here. Recall that a couple of the participants early on mentioned being pedantic...a much better description than "rude" for this. If people can't discuss such issues on a forum, where would they go?
