I would imagine that 14" 1024 x 768 LCD displays are pretty cheap these days. As soon as they would go up, then that would mean a more expensive iBook 14". Plus, I'm not saying that they don't exist, but I've rarely seen a 14" LCD display with a higher resolution than 1024 x 768. Cost must be involved. I guess that a 14" iBook makes sense for people that want a slightly larger image or a more actual size of what's on the screen.
