Old eyes? I found the 14" easier to read than the 12". Also, taking
advantage of the extra size, the battery is larger so battery life is
significantly improved.

Apple can - but keeping the iBook at 1024x768 is a way of differentiating
the iBook from the PowerBook line. Already the line is seriously blurred at
the 12" line.
