I got a Wallstreet with a dead battery - didn't show up in the control strip, didn't load. I run Battery Reset on it and the battery started charging. It is now good for about three hours work on a full charge.
Don't know, however, what Battery Reset does to a new battery or if it acts differently with a non-apple battery. According to the "Read Me" file it works with PowerBook G3 Series (family number M4753 or M5343) or iBook (family number M2453) computers.
