I imagine even the most simple-minded can discern between the program
and its content, whatever that might be, and the advertising blocks that
often as not get zapped anyway.
I am not about to buy a different deoderant because the ad for the one I
use is aired during program xyz which I detest.
By comparison, a personal endorsement by Limbaugh or anyone else brought
over as part of the program does create a connection with that person,
good or bad. I personally think this has no place at all in public
broadcasting of any kind. It is fine to say, " I use brand x because I
am satisfied with it, " is one thing, and to say, "Folks, go out an buy
brand x; there is simply nothing better is another..." is another. I
would not want that, even unsolicited.
I run my own business, too, and for the last 23 years. I can do without.
And I would not want the endorsement under discussion either, if I were
Jobs.
