IIRC reading that same compatability list the day before yesterday if you
have that Lite-On 40125S (40X) and you flash it with the 48x firmware in a
PC, this CDRW will be bootable. The link for the firmware can be found on
the same list. Off course doing things like that is always on your own
risk.
FYI: I bought a Lite-On 24102B (24x10x40) a while ago, because off good
reports at xlr8yourmac and put it in my B&W, and it was bootable if I
selected the Lite-On in the startup disk cp, OK sometimes it took several
minutes before it actually started booting, but it booted. Lately I had to
boot from a CD, and this method didn't work anymore (flashing question
mark), strange eh? I saw some suggestions at the compatibility list to make
this CDRW the slave and the zip the master, maybe I will do that or I can
put this CDRW in my PC and buy another CDRW, like the suggested Sony
CRX195E1 or the LG 8400B and put that in my B&W.
FYI: I put the CD/DVD from my B&W (24x CD/4 or 5x DVD) in my PC at the
moment and it is bootable.
BTW, William, have you tried booting from the LG 8400B, and is this the
same model as the latest G4s have?
Also Mark, what are the specs of the combo drive you installed, and is this
one bootable?
Marc
