Firewire drives are SO expensive... why so expensive? Are there any cheap ones?
And WTF is with all the driver issues with internal CDRWs? Would it be possible to get a FireWire CDRW, remove the drive from the case, and sell the case? Seriously, now that Mac users have a second optical drive bay (FINALLY!) they're gonna want to put a CDRW in there... I can see how drive makers don't care about Mac support since Macs make up a small percentage of the market and very few Mac users buy regular drives, but what about Apple? How do they get off so easy without writing drivers for CDRW drives? I even heard a number of reports of people having drives that worked in 10.1 but not in 10.2... now they're removing support for third party hardware? It's just weird. I wonder how much it would cost to get an Apple branded drive. Of course, it'll be slow, and overpriced, but at least it'll work. Or maybe I should try to find a place that has a money back guarantee, so I can return it if it doesn't work. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
