The Beige along with the first G3 Powerbooks, are the only G3s that 
need the max 8mb partition at the top of the drive with the OS to boot. 
that being so, and your having a larger drive, it is best to put 
everything else on the second (or third. etc?) partition. It will work 
either way of course, but X is a hog and need lots of room for its 
virtual memory thing and for temp. files.  Basically, however, X needs 
as much room as possible, and as much ram as possible.
