You can also find some surprises with some cheap "PC only" no name brands.
I bought a Kobian 2MP Mercury 3 in 1 camera for $150CDN.  I meant to use it
with the computers at work (all XP boxes).  Out of a whim I decided to plug
it into my B&W at home and suddenly iPhoto started up and recognized the
camera.  I was able to download all my photos (on the desktop it even comes
up as a drive in both X and 9).  It takes very good shots though it only has
digital zoom and it can take video w/sound.  It uses 4 AAA batteries
(alkaline or Ni-MH) and SD cards (up to 256MB).

I believe Kobian also makes a 3MP camera with 3X optical.
