Probably the cheapest deal around with no telco or cable solutions is DirecTV's DirecWay satellite broadband. It now supports Mac's and windooze. All you need is a clear shot at the southern sky. It's not going to make an online gamer happy as there is a latency to satellite, but for just e-mail, browsing, ftp type use it's quite functional and definitely faster.

They have a big marketing push on right now and they are offering some attractive pricing. We have a remote cabin we use it at and it's the only possibility for internet access.
