Is the jumper settings from the hdd set to master for the drive that x is on.
my tower g3 has a drive set to master with x loaded and a drive set to slave with 9.2.2 loaded, also the drive at master is partitioned to 2 x 4gb sections so the 8gb rule is ok.
My g3 is running fine and has not had a problem for a while since i set it up right.
have you tried the jumper setting

Humm, the only way I can boot into OSX on my partitioned hard is to use XpostFacto in OS9, or I just end up in open firmware 2.4 and can only boot to OS9 in that. Maybe that is one of the symptoms of the main problem. Maybe my processor isn't a complete G3 anymore. I am going to try the 233 and see if it is any faster.
