Just doing a little reading, seems I can download v5 or v6 directly from Roxio. How much better is v6 than v5, considering I'm only using it for audio, not video? I can buy v5 for $89 and it works with both OS 9 and OS X. The newer v6 is $99 and only works with OS X. The machine I plan to use it on is a B&W G3 400 Mhz - 896 Mb RAM - 80 Gb HD with a LiteOn 4816 DVD/CDRW combo drive.

Using it for audio? Why not save your money and use iTunes? OS X has built-in CD burning for free. I've never needed Toast; about the only thing I'd want it for is to more easily make VCD's, but there's freeware solutions even for that.

If your mac boots from that Lite-on drive, then it is probably supported. Look in Apple system profiler, it should say whether it's supported for burning or not.

Yep, used iTunes for the first time just the other day. Wanted to test to see how well it worked as I have not been able to use it prior to getting this B&W with plenty of RAM and 10.3.x. I was impressed, it was easy to use and worked very well for digital audio. But there are other things it won't do at all compated to Toast. I do a lot of work with making CD's from my old records and I'd like to give that a try using my beige G3 with the A/V card and Spin Doctor from Toast to remove pops and clicks. I always liked Easy CD Creator and I'm sure that Toast is very similar being as it's made by the same people.
