I don't know Jack, might be worth slightly more! :-) I'm sure I will get a DVD burner sometime in the future, but my only real reason to do so would be to copy my collection of commercial VHS tapes to DVD's and I'm told it's not possible because of the copy protection.
You can beat that copy protection. Like I mentioned before, if you feed a commercial videotape or DVD movie into the Mac through one of these analog-to-DV converters like the Miglia box I'm using, the copy protection is defeated and the video goes into iMovie nice and clean, ready to be sent back out to the VCR for copy or burned onto a DVD (or multiple DVDs, since iDVD can only put an hour of video on a disk right now, until the double-layer burning technology comes in). I know the Miglia box can do it since I use one; I assume the others like the Canopus can too (I wouldn't by a Dazzle or Pyro after reading how crummy they are).
