A good place to get started is Three Macs and a Printer <http://www.atpm.com/network/>. For the DSL modem, check with your DSL provider as most of them provide the modem with the service. Beyond that, the easiest route is to use a hardware router to share the single connection. The WAN (Wide Area Network) side plugs into the modem and is configured per your providers specifications (as if it were a computer) and the LAN (Local Area Network) is yours to do with as you please. The easiest way is to simply set the LAN side for DHCP and the computers to DHCP and let the router do all the work for you.

We are finally switching to DSL. :o)
But I know nothing about it.

I would like to connect both of our macs together to use the DSL.
We currently have 10.2.8
Is there a step by step, site with pictures to show how to set this up?

Do I need a static IP address or addresses to use both computers on the DSL line?
Do all modems work with Mac OSX?
Any suggestions on a inexpensive yet reliable modem?
Do all Mac modems work with regular DSL service.

Thank you for taking time to help me out.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all,
Kim
