Seems like the best way around that is a PCI IDE card. Yes, done all the time (I have two doing this) > Are my thoughts correct, oh Mac G3 gurus? Yes (and, as stated above...) > > Reason for this train of thought is the absolute hell I have been going > through trying to install OSX on this damned Tower!! Even with Xpostfacto it > just won't do it. But that's another story. I've never used xPostfacto and never intend to, what with B+W G3's being readily available for reasonable prices, and OS X runs great on them > And have been having more > trouble than usual on some web sites that apparently require newer browsers > than OS 9.2.2 can provide, in particular my online banking bill paying site. I use Safari 2 on a B+W, and Foxfire for other items; others have also indicated Opera and Camino are good; heck, I use iCab on my beige G3 running OS 9.2.2, and I've paid bills with that - all have, imho, beat the pants off IE, any version, hands down. When I log onto the Comcast home site w/ IE 5.2.3, I get a "you need to upgrade your browser" message as you speak of. I do the same with any of the other above-mentioned browsers, it reads all (including the video) like a "piece of cake". > Practically goes psycho on me and I have to go to the dark side (booo > hissssss) to pay a lot of my bills online at that site, which is really > convenient!!! For paying bills, very convenient; for shopping, *too* convenient! > Thanks for any advice. > > Deb in Rhode Island Best regards, Dana P.s. I love salsa too - bring on the cilantro! > ~~~~~~~ > Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. > Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day. > -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
