The devices which will read a Type 3 ATA PCMCIA hard drive/card into a
mac are few and far between. I have a few of the older Kodak Pro DCS cameras
which utilise a type 3 PCMCIA hd and occasionally used an Intermart PCD-15
scsi PC card reader/writer to access the images on a mac. Bit of a rare item
now and not so sure it will work with OSX. I used it infrequently more for
formatting and disk problems than image access as the cameras also have a
scsi port for direct access into Pshop via a Kodak plugin.
I also have the device you are perhaps referring to - which is a 3.5
inch (floppy size) double slot type 3 PCMCIA hd reader/writer in a 5.25
cage. The one I have is Litronic with ISA slot connection for a PC and
currently in a Pentium and was in use prior to the Intermart. Formatting and
disk repair are much more robust with the Litronic.
Alternatively you can use a PCMCIA compact flash adapter in place of the
PCMCIA hd fitted with whatever size of compact flash card you wish to buy
and remove it from the adapter to read it with a usb card reader.
