I know that I can use xpostfacto to instal 10.3 on my beige, but I am a lazy kind of person. Just as a quick question, can I clone my Digital Audio's main HD (with a full 10.3.9 install on it) using Carbon Copy Cloner and install it in my beige? I do not use an adb KB or mouse (does Panther support even adb peripherals?). I know I need to keep it on the first 8G of the disk.

Beiges are fickle. I never got Panther to work on my beige. Had to drop back to Jaguar. After enduring about three days of working around startup hangs by pulling PCI cards, RAM, etc. Jaguar really looked good when I finally got it back <g>. Having said that, you really never know if something is going to work (for you) unless you give it a try. You hear a lot about 8GB limits on beiges, but using XPF, I was able to boot from IDE drives on the internal bus and external firewire drives using volume sizes of 40GB. Even from slave drives.
But I couldn't install Panther successfully. Go figure.
Speaking of startup hangs, verbose mode was helpful, as was the tip about pressing keys (any key) on the keyboard to help keep the boot up progressing.

If I can do that, how easy is it to import my mail from 10.2 into 10.3, with both HDs attached.

It's been a while since I moved from 10.2 to 10.3, but in my recent move from 10.3 to 10.4 it was very easy to import from within Mail launched under Tiger. I expect the same is true of 10.2 to 10.3. And if import does not work, simply copying the ~/Library/Mail folder to the new startup volume has worked for me in the past. Do this while Mail.app is NOT running.

Thanks,
Len
