My daughter has a Pinoneer '105' model in her G4 tower and keeps complaining to me how slow it is when burning DVDs. Her long jobs are usually 'overnighters'. Just curious how much faster this '110' model is - compared to her current drive.

The Pioneer 105 DVD-RW drive takes apox 12-15 min to burn a full DVD disk using DVD x 4 media. So if it takes over night don't blame it on the DVD burner! Software or a too slow CPU is the likely reason. So buying the fastest DVD burner isn't going to be the fix your hoping for. Will S

She uses iDVD & Tiger. So why can't I blame the drive?
OK, I exaggerated with the word 'overnighter'. It still takes HOURS to burn one DVD. One thing I could have her change next time she burns DVD - to choose the max rated speed. I was told (or read somewhere) that selecting a speed LESS than max gives you the best results and minimizes corruption. Did I get this right? Go ahead and laugh. It's good for your heath.... ;)
