I'd guess it is a leftover from an upgrade.
And BTW, the desktops have something that the B&W have not: the desktop cases.
My Beige G3 sits atop my Wintel --also in a desktop case-- and on top of
both my main monitor. OK, I'm a tall guy.
I plan eventually to get a dual-booting G4 and transplant it to a PC
desktop case.
