The Intel machines do not worry me, I probably will never have one.
Wow. What will you use when your current systems are no longer
maintainable?

I don't know about anybody else, but I will probably go back to
building my own systems (with AMD processors!), and run some flavor of
Linux on them. And I hate to burst the bubble of anybody who thinks
that with Apple using Intel processors the prices of Macs will
drastically drop. Intel processors are the most expensive of any chip
builder.
Wow. I'm surprised that a Mac user would be interested in doing that.
OS X is just so much better, from a user perspective, than Linux it's
not even funny. What makes the computer is the software, not the
hardware on which it runs. I wouldn't be interested in running Windows
on my PowerPC-based PowerMac any more than I am in running Windows on
an Intel system. Same goes for Linux. And yes, I run Linux on my lone
x86 box, a K6-233; the day it dies I'll look to replace it with a Mac
mini.
