Another point about BBEdit, when you have a lot of old files, is that it will
still open them in the old font size, unless you have the State preferences
changed to *not* "Honor Saved State" with regard to "Font Settings" --
then it
will open the files at the size specified as default.

(At least that's the way it works in 5.11, the version I have. They may have
changed the exact wording.)

My q was not really about old files, but thanks Bill anyway. I just want to see 
any text whatsoever, in a new doc or old, even as I type new, nice like in 
Mail, or nice like in MT-Newswatcher. I am away from base at present for a week 
or more but will look at any suggestion. It looks jaggedy.
