Hmm.

I find that BBEdit honors my MARKed menu items when I open an MPW file created 
on this 8500 running OS 9.1 using BBEdit 8.x on another machine running OS neXt.

BBEdit must be looking at the resource fork if it's there. That means there may 
be a hack that would allow the old way by faking resources in a resource fork 
that doesn't naturally exist anymore.

Anyone know what the resource names and ID's were and their formats?

I really dislike the idea that BBEdit forgets my formatting selections when I 
rename, duplicate, or just allow a file to get old without looking at it. Yeah, 
I know, Bare Bones likes its way because multiple users of a single file get to 
have their own choices in an industrial environment.
