If you're operating a "cluster" of, say, 2,048 fast PowerPCs:

1) you're NOT going to be buying 2,048 Macs, rather, you're going to be 
buying board-level PPC solutions, of which there are several, and

2) your're NOT goign to be buying 2,048 MacOS licenses, rather, you're 
going to be "buying" an open-source license (Linux, say) and then 
duplicating it across all processors.

That's 2,048 instances of Linux in one room alone.

Right now, Lawrence Livermore National Labs has 2,048 PPCs in a cluster, 
and it is planning a new cluster, one which will consist of 131,072 
slower speed, but also much lower power processors, of undetermined 
architecture, not necessarily PPCs.

This will be 131,072 instances of Linux in one room.
