I've pretty much exhausted all but the power supply. I found a place that will rebuild it for not much (all things considered).
Went to a local mom & pop shop yesterday and while he was nice enough to (unasked) test my battery instead of selling me a new one, he told me the power supplies were $600 and I should buy a Mini for $700. Which means I'd still have to buy enclosures for my SATA drives to get my data back. If I'm buying enclosures I may as well just hang them off the MacBook and be done with it. Weird thing is, my 1.42 DP still rocks when it comes to speed. I have no idea why, by all accounts it shouldn't compared to my 2 yr old MacBook. Oh sure, a quad or 8 core MacPro will open Illy CS3 before you've even released the mouse button, but I just don't have that kind of cash right now. So I'll fix what I have, and look into an enclosure down the road (or revise my backup procedure) so I am not stuck if this happens again. Thanks for all the help - wish one of the suggestions had worked LOL. But for an 8 yr old machine it's really done great for me. :) Diane -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
