Hello, I have a physical MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina. I only use MacPorts instead of Fink and Homebrew, because Fink seems no more active and Homebrew has poor support for older versions of macOS.
I ever wanted to add a building variant “cltl1” to the Ports definition of the “gcl” package (2.6), for building Axiom, but somehow the building process failed in my machine. Then I gave up and stopped looking into GCL (and Axiom) for several months. Having another separate package for GCL 2.7 would be the best for users to have both 2.6 and 2.7 installed from MacPorts.
