Greetings, and thanks as always for your very helpful feedback!

Macos 10.13. The previous reported numbers were macports version numbers.

I can confirm that GCL master aka 2.7 builds fine under the xcode clang,
but there is a problem with macports gcc which is not debuggable under
either lldb nor gdb. This might very well be good enough for GCL
release unless an easy, better environment is shortly forthcoming.

Thank you so much for your kind offer, but I assure you I have the means
to purchase this myself and would be happy to do so if I saw the value
in it philosophically speaking. I have no interest in using closed
source systems nor in adding power to their corporate sponsors, though I
wish them well if they make their customers happy. I believe in open
source, and in cooperation and reciprocity among people working together
as equals. I only use these virtual box systems in attempt to provide
some extra open source value to voluntary or involuntary users of these
systems, and really can only do so if it is simple and transparent
technically speaking. I don't think it a wise use of time chasing a
closed developer community.

Are you still involved with macports? I am considering using Kirill's
ssh into a github action suggestion and possibly maintaining the port if
it is as easy as doing so for Debian. I am wary of depending on github
given what happened to Tim.

Take care,
